Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This policy explains how APERA, the Association of Party and Event Rental Professionals in Abuja (“APERA”, “we”), collects and uses personal data through this website, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Questions or requests: aperaabuja@gmail.com or WhatsApp +234 704 197 1786.

What we collect and why

  • Membership pre-assessment: your name, email, WhatsApp number, company name, rental categories, office area, CAC status and whether you have a guarantor. We use it to review your application and contact you about it.
  • Membership registration: the full registration form is a Google Form run by APERA. Information and documents you submit there (including CAC certificate, photo ID, passport photograph and guarantor details) are stored in APERA’s Google account and used to verify and register members and to produce ID cards, certificates and uniforms. Google’s privacy policy also applies.
  • Member accounts and the Member Directory: for registered members we keep a website account (email, business name and business profile). The public Member Directory shows a member’s business name, logo, service categories, business type, office area and address, business phone/WhatsApp, social media links, website, description and portfolio. Members consent to this listing as part of membership, can edit their own listing, and can ask us to remove it at any time. The owner’s personal name, date of birth, ID documents and guarantor details are never shown publicly.
  • Contact form: your name, email, optional phone and message, used to reply to you.
  • Newsletter: your email address, used only to send APERA news. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us.
  • Members-only areas: when members log in we record basic account activity (such as last visit and downloads of member documents) to run the portal.

Legal basis

We process data with your consent (newsletter, directory listing), to take steps toward and perform your membership (pre-assessment, registration, member accounts) and for APERA’s legitimate interests in running the association and responding to enquiries.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Data is shared only with service providers that help run APERA (website hosting, email delivery, Google Workspace/Forms), with APERA executives and the membership team who need it for their role, or where the law requires.

Cookies

The website uses essential cookies to keep members logged in and to protect forms against spam, and may use privacy-friendly statistics to understand how the site is used.

How long we keep data

Pre-assessment and contact messages are kept while they are being handled and for up to 24 months after. Member records are kept while you are a member and for a reasonable period afterwards for association records. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, object to processing, or ask for a copy of your data. Contact us using the details above; we will respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Security

Members-only documents are served only to logged-in members, and access to applicant and member data is limited to the APERA team. No online system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version.
